Do American Consumers Use QR Codes?

In June 2011, 14 million smartphone owners scanned a QR code, according to a survey conducted by Comscore, a market research company.  That is 6.2% of all smartphone users.  Not surprisingly, a demographic analysis of those who scanned a QR code were:

*60% male

*53% between the ages of 18 and 34

*36% have a household income of $1ook or more

Angel Investing on the Rise

Key findings from the the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire  in their quarterly survey of angel investing reveals—

*Total angel investing reached $8.9 billion for the first half of 2011—up 4.7% from a year earlier

*Almost 26,300 companies received angel funding for the first 6 months of 2011

*The largest share of angel funding went to healthcare services (25%), followed by energy (17%), biotech(14%) and software(11%)
