Why Do Americans Use Social Media?

Two-thirds of online adults(66%) use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, or Linkedin.  Why?

*Staying in touch with family and friends (66%)

*Connecting with old friends they have lost touch with (50%)

*Shared interest or hobby(14%)

*Making new friends (9%)

This was a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Internet  and American Life  Project conducted in 2011.

Americans Ignore Most Smartphone Apps

Of smartphone owners,  68% open only FIVE or fewer apps weekly. Seventeen percent(17%) do not use any apps.  These findings are from a survey conducted  by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project.  Only 42% of all U.S. adults have phones with apps.  The most popular apps based on the percentge of downloads are—-

*Information updates of news, weather , stocks, sports(74%)

*Communication with family or friends  (67%)

*Help in learning about something  (65%)

The demographic profile of app downloaders remains concentrated among young, more affluent and highly educated adults living in urban or suburban areas.

LEAST FAVORITE TASKS

Small business owners find these tasks least enjoyable—-

Filing/Organization   (27%)

Computer Issues   (22%)

Staffing/Hiring/Firing  (17%)

Presentations  (16%)

Sales   (15%)
